Fishing is big business but not just Cabela's, REI or Big 5 Sporting Goods stores. Attracting fishermen to a city can increase business and in some cases attract big money. The Idaho Department of Fish and Game conducted a survey of about 26,000 fishermen in 2003. This survey determined that the average fisherman in Idaho spends about $150 a day.
With so many great fishing spots right in Elmore County, we ranked 14 out 44 counties surveyed in Idaho. Fishermen spent over $11 Million in Elmore County during 2003 on things like food, supplies, transportation and a place to sleep.
