On July 13th, 2008 I rode my bike on the Mountain Home Walking/Bike Path. Along the way I took a video and some pictures.

As you can imagine, riding a bike and trying to shoot a video results in a very shaky movie.
This biking/walking path runs along Interstate 84 in Mountain Home, Idaho. The path is about 1.2 miles long and is completely paved.
Here is an update on the Daniel Dopps Rodeo held in Mountain Home, Idaho at the end of June, 2008.
As a result of the generous people of Idaho, volunteers and the contestants of this rodeo much good will come from the tragic death of a young 19 year old gentleman from Mountain Home in August 2005. I quote Ramona Dopps:
“Truly this [Rodeo] is a labor of love for our family, friends and supporters and we love to hear when someone has a good time.
As a charitable rodeo, our only purpose is to raise funds to donate back into the community and state. I am happy to report that as a result of this year's rodeo, there will be donations close to $11,000 made. All of these donations will directly go back to organizations that support youth activities, care for children and their families and educational scholarships right here for Elmore County.”
Daniel died on August 7, 2005 from injuries
sustained at a PRCA rodeo on August 6. He was
The night before he died, he lived one of his
dreams. He had drawn Crossfire Hurricane at the
Idaho Falls PRCA Rodeo. Just to have the chance
to put his rope on this great bull had him on Cloud
9. Though he did not ride Crossfire for eight
seconds, he sure gave him heck for about five. He
told a television reporter that night while he was
being interviewed on television, “I just want
everyone to know that this is what I do. I'm going
to keep doing it until I can't do it anymore.”

Have you been wondering when construction will start on the War Eagle Speedway in Elmore County Idaho? A project with such grand plans in our own backyard should be in the news more and more each day. But I haven't heard anything about this project since August 2007.
Ask and You Shall Receive
I decided to ask around at the Mountain Home City Hall and the Elmore County Court House to see if our officials had any news. The news I received was that the developers, Northwest Motorsports Inc had let their Conditional Use Permit (Cup) on the land off Simco Road expire. From what I understand, once the CUP expires the land reverts back to the original owners.
Other Information on Northwest Motorsports
I decided to do some checking with the State of Idaho and ended up on the Idaho.Gov “Business Entity Search” website. It looks like Pamula K. Dugger and Robert P. Walker are still a business entity under the name of either Northwest Motorsports Llc or Northwest Motorsport INC.
My guess is the War Eagle Speedway in Elmore County plan has been put on extended hiatus or the speedway plan is dead. That is not to say that that we will not have a NASCAR Race track near Mountain Home. But I do think it will be a long, long time before we see any construction on Simco Road or the roar of 750 horsepower cars circling the asphalt in Elmore County.
If you have any additional information about the War Eagle Speedway, please contact me and I will post it right here so interested people can get the news.
I attended the Daniel Dopps Rodeo on June 28th, 2008 in Mountain Home and enjoyed it very much. This rodeo was as much fun, if not more fun than any other rodeo I've attended in the past.
I was surprised by the big crowd that was there on Saturday night. Not that I was surprised because there were a lot of people there but because the drive into Optimist Park was uncrowded and simple to get into the parking lot. I only had to wait behind two cars to get my ticket and park. The stands were packed so I did a lot of walking around.
Saddle Bronc Riding Video:
Watch a very grainy video I made during this rodeo in Mountain Home.
I enjoyed the saddle bronc portion of the event the most but the bull riding was also fun to watch.
