Where? 10.5 miles north of Fairfield, Idaho.

The Couch Summit Trailhead was a great find for me for a few reasons. The scenery was quite amazing as there was about 30 inches of snow on the ground and the sky about the deepest blue I've ever seen. And finding a paved road this far into the mountains really open up this part of the world for me this coming summer. I'd think this trail head, in addition to a great jumping off spot for day hiking, will be a great place to start exploring on a mountain bike when the snows finally melt this spring.

On the day I took this picture, the road was lined with many truck with trailers. I suspect this area is well known to the Camas Prairie snow mobile community. I thought it was strange I didn't see one snow mobile or even hear an engine during the 20 minutes I was taking pictures and enjoying the views.

Mileage to the Couch Summit Trailhead including 1/3 mile of gravel road.
Mountain Home, Idaho: 68 miles of paved roads.
Boise Airport: 109 miles of paved roads.
Twin Falls, Idaho: 79 miles.
