Flat Top Butte is located just off Idaho Highway 46. It's hard to find much information about this geologic feature other than it might be a very old inactive shield type volcano. From what I've read, this volcano did produce quite an extensive shield of basaltic lava as it spread across southern Idaho during the Pleistocene Epoch?

The Gooding City of Rocks should not be confused with City of Rocks National Reserve located about 125 miles to the south near Almo, Idaho.
