With a new year upon us, there are new Idaho adventures to consider, business and political news to discuss and pictures to post. Below are some things that are on my blogging "radar screen" for 2011. These are not new years resolutions, mind you, but things I will be exploring as my life in Mountain Home unfolds.

Gold Panning: 2011 will be the year of Gold Panning Idaho and I'll share some or most of our golden finds from the many streams and creeks.

GeoCaching: Time to start geocaching in the new year. Combining gold panning, rock hounding, hiking and ATV'ing with geocaching seems like a normal progression in outdoor activities.

Kite Skiing / Snowshoeing: I'd really like to try something new to stay busy during the long Idaho winter. I attempted snowshoeing last year and again over Christmas 2010. The Christmas snowshoeing went much better than my first attempt. Kite skiing seems exciting and something that can hold my attention whereas snowshoeing seems much easier on the budget than kite skiing.

Stories and Pictures and Videos of Mountain Home Businesses: Mountain Home may be a small city but there seems to be new businesses opening, moving and slipping away.

Try to encourage our State and Federal Government to make maps of Idaho more user friendly: Simply put, Google Earth is the BEST mapping software currently available to the regular everyday Joe/Jane Sixpack. Google Earth and their KLM overlay file extension can make planning a hiking, rock hounding, ATV or GeoCaching trip extremely easy. I will be writing to the BLM, Forest Service, Congressmen and Senators in the coming months and years if that what it takes.

Develop a new website for Mountain Home area citizens: More to come about this idea but I think the locals will like it.
